Nutrition and rights: Meet three women who are leaders of change
At Watoto Arts, we are proud of our collaboration with The Hunger Project, where we support their important work for a world where no one should have to live in hunger. We do this by donating SEK 40 from each Siyanda and Abey doll set sold, which has the embroidery “Love. Nutrition. Rights.” embroidered on the pocket. The donation will go towards the work of ensuring the right nutrition for children and their families through training and support for small farmers, with a focus on women, in their countries of operation.
In The Hunger Project's program, people get opportunities to get themselves out of hunger through education, equality and leadership. In this way, the power of individuals to change their lives is strengthened. They are given tools to lead themselves and their communities towards a future without hunger, for generations to come

"My sister and I have started a small kitchen garden where we grow corn and other vegetables. My focus is for my children to eat well every day!” Mary in Malawi. |
Claudia in Mexico wants to change injustice
Claudia, a 12-year-old girl from Chiapas, Mexico, dreams of becoming a lawyer and fighting for justice. Where she lives, it is common for girls to be forced to stay home from school to help their families put food on the table, and in the worst case, they are married off. The Hunger Project supports the girls through education about their rights and informs those around them about the dangers of child marriage.
"We girls dream of a high school and university in the village, so that we can study further after primary school. I want to become a lawyer. There are many injustices here and people are rude to each other, I want to change that." Claudia in Mexico. |
