Did you know that it is our talented seamstress Guli's hands that have shaped each doll?

Watoto Arts is a work-integrating social enterprise that works to create positive social change. We create employment for individuals who have been excluded from the labor market. For us, this is an important step in our work for a more inclusive society. We are convinced that by empowering women and mothers, we create the best conditions for a brighter future.

Through our local production in Stockholm, we want to bring back the feeling of craftsmanship and care in every toy we create. In a time where mass production and distance from the creative process are becoming more and more common, we at Watoto Arts take a different path. We believe in a fair and transparent production that not only benefits our society but also the planet.

Although our dolls may cost a little more, they are an investment in a more sustainable and just world. The cheaper alternatives often have a hidden price – a price paid by our environment and by the people in the production chain. By choosing locally produced products, you not only support local artisans but also a brighter future for our planet.

When the foundations of Watoto Arts were laid, the ambition was the following:

  • Promote Diversity : strives to create dolls that reflect the rich diversity of our society, so that every child can see themselves in our toys.
  • Local Expertise : Sweden is home to incredibly talented seamstresses whose skills are often overlooked. By focusing on local production, we create meaningful jobs that strengthen individuals and society.
  • Protect the Environment : We are determined to reduce our environmental impact. By choosing local materials and methods, we reduce the need for transport and our carbon footprint, leading to a more sustainable future.
