Together with FunkisJärva and the youth center Träffstugan, we at Watoto Arts held a heartwarming workshop where children and young people got to create their own baby dolls – what a fantastic day it was!

With needle, thread, and a lot of imagination, the participants sewed hair onto their dolls, braided hairstyles, and created small personal details that brought the dolls to life. To make the dolls even cozier, the children also got to sew their own pillows and sleeping bags – a place for their new little friends to rest.

An important part of the workshop was that each child got to choose the skin tone for their doll; we have dolls in 4 different skin tones to be as inclusive as possible.

We left with warmth in our hearts – and with children beaming with pride over their handmade dolls. It was a time for conversation, recognition, joy, and creativity.
