We are proud that Watoto Arts has received support from the Swedish Postcode Foundation for the project Inclusive and sustainable growth – more dolls, more jobs.
The support makes it possible for us to take the next step in the development of Watoto Arts: to scale up our Swedish production while creating greater social impact.
Our business is built on two interconnected ideas. More children need toys where they can recognize themselves and the world they live in. At the same time, we want to use our local production to create more pathways to work and self-sufficiency for women who are far from the labor market.
More dolls and more job opportunities
Through the project, we are investing in our production and developing the capacity of our doll workshop. This means we can manufacture more inclusive dolls locally, but also create more employment opportunities within textile production.
An important step for Watoto Arts
The support has already enabled us to invest in new production equipment and strengthen the team. In an interview with EFN, we talked about how this investment enables us to grow while creating new jobs.
Impact Loop has also highlighted the initiative and our ambition to scale up the production of inclusive dolls in Sweden.
